Husband had a conference in D.C. last week so I tagged along and we stayed a few extra days for fun. We had been almost 5 years ago so we didn't have to squeeze a ton in on our extra days, but we did see some things.
We walked around and saw the monuments lit up at night.
I did some shopping and sightseeing on the days that husband was at his conference. Note to self: take better walking shoes next time.
Friday after his conference ended we headed out. Our hotel we found was a great location so we walked, but not as much as we could have. We started off at the botanic gardens which was right next to the Capital.
Here is one of the great flower pictures husband took at the gardens.
We stopped off at the National Museum of the American Indian
We then went to the Hirshhorn Museum where we saw some fun modern art.
Saturday we slept in until 10:30!!! (although we didn't mean to) We haven't done that in forever. and it was so nice to get some sleep. We headed to get lunch (where I passed out, but that story will come another time--all is well though) and then did some more walking.
Chinatown
National Gallery of Art
Butterflies at the Natural History Museum
This one liked husband:)
That night we went out to dinner at a nice restaurant that was very popular and busy. Their clam chowder was yummy!! Thank goodness we had reservations. Otherwise our wait would have been 2 hours.
Sunday morning we headed to the National Zoo to see some animals.
On the subway headed back to the hotel.
We had a great little get-away in D.C. Thanks for letting me tag-along, husband!!

Looks like ya'll had a great time and lots of fun pictures!!! Isn't it fun how much we will pack into a mini-vacation!!! :)
