May 28

Seven years ago on May 28!

Two years ago on May 28!

This year on May 28!

As you can see this is a special day in our little family. We picked May 28 to celebrate us forever. God picked May 28 (5 years later) to celebrate Jaxon forever.

Husband was a week away from taking the 3rd (and final) part of his 3-year long test, and since he had the day off of work, he spent most of it studying. Before he left to study, we took the birthday boy out for donuts--his FAVORITE!!! He has only had them a few times so we thought this would be a speical time to take him to the donut shop. I have several ideas of things I would like to do for him on the morning of his birthday, one of which may always include donuts. This year, we decided to keep it simple. He seemed rather happy:)

Daddy went to study and we headed to the toy store to spend a little gift card we had. I pretty much let him roam around for a while. We had never done that before and he had a blast. Our first stop was at the train table. Where else??

After he picked out a couple of trains to add to his, I let him take the lead. And look what he found very quickly--the trucks!!

He walked up and down in front of the trucks pressing all the buttons turning on all the noises.

He saw the firetruck at the checkout counter so I let him drive (sit in the firetruck) for a while. I bet he could have stayed there for an hour if I would have let him.

Next stop was the Japanese Garden to feed the fish. This is one of his favorite things to do. He loves to feed the fish and run and get more fish food when we run out.

We played outside for a little while before nap time. This boy could stay outside all day. Too bad his skin is like mine and doesn't like the sun. We can't stay out in it too long.

When husband was finished studying, we headed to Roanoke to eat at Babe's. It is a restaurant with a very small and set menu. But you can't go wrong with chicken fried steak, so we gave it a shot. And it didn't disappoint.

Jaxon agreed with us that it was yummy food!

Check out that home-cookin' (and completely healthy) goodness!

We stopped and got some frozen yogurt on the way home for dessert.

It was a fun and celebratory day! It is husband's year to plan something for our anniversary which we plan to celebrate later this month:).

Happy 7 years to my wonderful husband!
Happy Birthday to my precious little boy!

I love you both!!!!!

  5. what a doubly special day! love the traditions! (but hopefully next year mark won't have to spend the afternoon studying!!)

just read this joke: little boy to his grandmother: 'i like nuts'. gma: 'oh, what kind? pecans, almonds, peanuts?' little boy: 'donuts'!

(if jaxon follows in his daddy's footsteps, those kind of 'nuts' will be on top of his list, too!
